The New Mexico Rodeo Association is a non-profit (501 c(3) ) non- political and non- denominational organization thats sole purpose is to promote the sport of rodeo and to do our part to preserve our western heritage and western way of life here in New Mexico. The corporation is governed by competing directors with an emphasis on offering structure and support to any sanctioned rodeo committee in the state.
The NMRA is a family oriented association dedicated to preserving and promoting rodeo since its creation in 1980. We are the oldest rodeo association in New Mexico with the largest member base and long standing relationships with rodeo committees and rodeos that pre date our association by many years.
Many of the original founders who painstakingly formed this organization in 1980 still compete in NMRA rodeos today. It is something they believe in so strongly, that they have passed this tradition down to their children whom also currently compete in NMRA rodeos and in some cases have followed in the footsteps of their parents and serve as governing members of the association today.
NMRA accumulates memberships from 400 to 600 members annually. The membership is comprised of contestants, contractors, arena officials, directors, sponsors, and committee volunteers in towns all across the four-state area with an emphasis on rodeos in the state of New Mexico. We provide a sanctioning system complete with highly trained and talented judges, field secretaries, entry secretaries and our state secretary all working in unison to insure order and professionalism at rodeos who choose to fly the NMRA flag.
The NMRA has close ties with over 50 different rodeos annually and 5 neighboring rodeo sanctioning associations. We strive to create opportunities for new and upcoming rodeos and we have dedicated our association to helping and promoting the youth of our state by giving them an opportunity to compete right alongside of the best rodeo athletes New Mexico has to offer.
Thank you for visiting our New Mexico Rodeo Association online home, if you have any questions or would like to contribute to the NMRA please contact our state secretary or any director, we will be happy to help you.
